For the air duct cleaners. Hotels have terrible quality air

For the second time, I previously stayed at a Hilton hotel at 2 different locations, and after I woke up each morning, I woke up with a terrible headache, and all my nasal passages were clogged up.

The only air filtration in those rooms is that paper thin air filter inside those stupid air conditioners in the windows. They literally filter out ZERO allergens.

Is there a type of air filter that I can bring with me to put on the outside of the grill to filter out the air while I stay at these hotels? Maybe a universal size one that I can just roll up and tape it on?

If it's really bothering you just take the cover off and clean out the inside coils and drain pan. That would be way more effective. Most of those hotels never clean them and they are pretty gross.

We clean these for a couple properties on an annual basis

Should I bring some microban in a spray bottle and mist over the coils? I think they might look at me weird if I bring my shop vac in the room with me.

Just remove the coils and wash them out in the bath tub then dry with the hair dryer. They are really easy to remove in those ptac units.

Spraying microban won't really do anything as all that junk is still in there. Microban will prob make your air quality worse in the short term. Wouldn't want to be breathing that all night long

Do I need anything more than a phillips screw driver on my next trip to a hotel to take it apart?

Depends on the unit but not much more than that. Any basic home drill/driver kit would for sure get it done

If you had a couple screw drivers and a wrench it would be fine

Every system is a little different but they are all pretty easy/basic

Here's the cintas video....

If they are doing it then you know it's easy

It looks like a little more than soaking it in the bathtub is needed. I'll have some fun on my next little vacation.

Maybe I should ask if their air conditioned units have been cleaned in the last 6 months before I check in. That'd be easier. I think that's just as important as checking for bed bugs
