New carpet backing

Custy just had new Nylon carpet installed by Lowes because it was only $40.00. Anyways, the backing wasn't the traditional latex backing. It was more of a cloth type material and possibly a thin layer of latex in between the fiber and cloth. Is this the new trend?

Was it the soft back? Easy to bend? Light greyish color? The one I'm thinking of been around for a while. I could be wrong though.

I just put some in my house, Although it definately wasnt cheap. The soft packing is on top of a webbed backing to prevent scratching woodwork on install.

Soft bac is made by shaw and has a primary backing ,secondary backing than a fleece is applied. Luxery bac carpet is beauliea . It has a primary and the secondary is the fleece. Also they have another product that is called domo(European product ) . This backing is a heavy fleece of around 1/8 thick to 3/16 which is attached by a latex coating .
