I was looking at Rons @Cleanworks thread, and it got me thinking. We all have our favorite tools. WHY ARE THEY YOUR FAVORITE? Is it what you learned on? Is it skill level? Is it experience? Is it another cleaners favorite, and you try it, and make it the new found ‘go-to’? Performance, in YOUR hands, makes it feel right? Is it the ‘right tool’ for THAT particular task?

I used to swear by the kleenwrite upholstery tool. I think the ss and the shear dry are patterned after it in some ways. For years I have loved the pm internal jet tools. I have the precursor to the hydro kinetic tool. I think it comes down to whatever you become proficient on first, kind of like your first love. That' the beauty of attending events like a Mikeys fest or trade show. You can get first hand experience with the latest and greatest tools. My latest faves, zipper, pm mach 12, rotovac 360i with brush head.

I’m in the honeymoon phase with my Cimex. Last Saturday, it made me more per hr. than I’ve ever made. Other than loading, and unloading, it was VERY easy money to boot.....

I like the Butler System, Devastator wand, 10 inch CRB...good for residential, small to fit in van and light weight, SS Clear Head Upholstery tool...the best tool, Sanitaire 16 inch upright...best commercial vacuum...period, Hoover PortaPower general purpose vacuum...edging, upholstery, hard floor and stair vacuuming.
All these tools are well made, save me time and energy. The next tool I buy will be the Zipper. Same reason.

you missed me...I know you did....
We all missed you, Jim.

Though- I strongly disagree.

Yes, if you buy crappy tools, it does not matter how good you are, the results will not be very good. But a good cleaner with mediocre tools will still out perform a mediocre cleaner with great tools.

Of course a great cleaner with great tools would do awesomely great and in less time or effort. As well as satisfy the tool geek urge we all seem to have. Some of us with considerably less impulse control :winky:

My Butler and I are still pretty hot and heavy. I just ordered some taillights and am trying to figure out what to do with the headlights. Bumpers and grille will turn black when I catch my breath.

It took me many thousands of jobs before realizing just how important your choice of system is.

The Oreck that Mike loves has found its way onto my truck. I love how small, light, easy, and tough it is. The bag it takes is cavernous, also. It really pairs well with the limited space I have in my sweet rig.

My Devastator Wand has changed what I thought possible with a wand. Yesterday I cleaned over 1900 sqft of carpet in a home, without scrubbing. Talk about time savings....prevac/hydro force/Devastator rinse. I made almost $200 per hour. That’s higher than normal for me, being alone.

I bought the Saiger stair tool a week or 2 ago and really like it so far, too. I’m definitely needing to practice my technique but I can see the attraction.

I want the SS upholstery tool and a Zipper (standard, I think) next. I’ve been thinking of updating my air mover game too.

Don’t forget the Seal A Door. It is utilized on just about every residential job, regardless of season.
