I cleaned these wood like tiles recently. The tiles were installed five years ago. The section in the photos is beneath their dining room table. The spots are an exact square like rectangle shaped section as if there was an area rug there. They informed me that this did not have any type of rug there. I tried an acid to see if it would come up or was caused by the alkaline cleaner. And nothing. I tried scratching it with my finger to see if it would loosen up but it seem like it was embedded into the printing. Has anyone ever come across this before?
