Apparently my TRex to that John sent me to test and evaluate is a early drone with the black face handle. It had a fair aount of use before I received it. It's tight and
solid. The handle is fine, and the stock jets that washed Las Vegas seem to well under control in this unit. Very even spray. John sent me some new jets, but I want to see if I can plug these first. I did a rat nasty apartment last week that I used this machine on. The head looked like a hairball when I stood it up. I neglected to use my Devastator on that job...big mistake. It took me over half an hour to chase the hair out of the Savage TM and clean the pumpout. The apt 's last tenant cooked with lard. The carpets had that beaten down greasy filth look. but not after cleaning. It was easy to do and oh, so gratifying to watch the changes happen so fast. The property manager was majorly impressed.
An idiot can break anything. RX's break the support plate for the handle where it attaches to the motor. I took mine off and silver soldered a reinforcing plate and redrilled the hole. The cast aluminum cord wrap post will snap if you have the machine fall over. Don't ask me how I know. ...I drilled and tapped both the post and the riser tube and locktighted them back together.
So far the T Rex has been excellent. I like the weight concentrated on the head. The only thing I've observed is the tendency of the bottom jet to drip water for about 25 seconds when you stand the head up. That known, I leave the hose cuff on for 45 seconds after shutting off solution feed. The RX- like hose conversion I did makes it friendly for someone used to the RX.
Is it the be all and end all of rotary scrubbers? depends on what you like. There's other quality rotary tools.
It is a foward thinking design and the vac recovery is hugely significant. It truly does make drying concerns while cleaning with a ETM or portable a non issue. I've talked to John about several small tweaks that I think might be implemented. There are some attachments coming soon that will be useful.
I'd love to see the T REX motor adapted to a
CRB machine. That motor's got grunt!
