Id say it was set to look like that after cleaning. Probably use horsehair brush to set the pattern..

Upholstery should dry pushed/brushed all in one direction. I use a clean white towel.
If you don't, some of these fabrics will show a color differentiation throughout after they have dried.
That was one ugly finished looking upholstery cleaning job!!
