I know the apartment cleaners would love to have a Glide that lasted longer and cleans to the edge as well as mine do it would appreciate the fit and finish that a green Glide delivers.

But to take on the development of making a new Glide for most ones that last longer it would only make financial sense to charge even more for this product, and I'm not so sure the apartment cleaners can do the arithmetic....

I'd like to hear your thoughts on the subject

Our industry is very diverse, and "apartment cleaners" are only a fraction of that marketplace.

I think having two types of glides makes sense, based on the buying habits of the market(s) you are serving.

Interestingly, the apartment cleaners, with their (likely) lack of prevacuuming, and need to hire less than careful cleaning technicians, are the ones who would most need the more durable glide. Those who studiously prevacuum, who are careful with their tools, and who clean light to moderately soiled carpet, could probably get away with using a less durable glide.

That said, if people who market products sold to the need, not the want, tobacco, candy, and potato chips would not be marketed to those who have the poorest health care options.

Cleaning to the edge is a big deal to me, definitely more important on my list than longetivity. The flat face idea is pretty sweet, wonder if an angled channel could get it even closer to the edge. I rarely go without a glide but when I used that old favorite AW wand my dad had lying around I was shocked at how nice to get up right into the baseboard. I usually run the wand perpendicular to them and also pull the vac hose to trace the border of the room too since I know the glide keeps it from the edge.

When I have soiling along the baseboard, I use my edging wand.
“Likely” Jim? You’re being way too nice. I’d say up to 90% of ALL carpet cleaners don’t prevacuum.
I didn't "pre-vacuum" {idiots} the mega church I cleaned yesterday

I have an original Evolution wand that Jim P. sold me years ago. The one that actually reaches up to the wall. I use this wand specifically on Apartment carpets with a slotted glide. Most times the carpets are vacuumed, other times not to bad and sometimes, I have to vacuum just to find the carpet. I have tried various glides that have all worked just fine, However, the Delrin glides hold up the best. My biggest issue is when you miss a screw and slide the wand over it. Plus, most apartment carpets have junk pad and thin carpet thus leading to a lot of scratches on the Glide due to exposed tac strip pins.

I've had customers ask ne why other cleaners don't clean the edges.
I've had customers ask about cleaning edges that didn't look bad to me.
More have asked and commented on edges than vacuuming.
Maybe it's equal. But it's automatic for me to clean edges. I usually clean the baseboards too. That became habit following Genny on so many jobs. My way of helping her. Now I just do it as an extra like cleaning doorways and porches.

Yes that's what I'm saying and it's a proven fact.
I don’t think there’s a bigger fan of glides than me (except for those who sell them) but it’s a fact that a glided wand doesn’t clean any better than a non- glided wand. All things being equal, an unglided wand doest even provided faster drying. Using a glide is only worth it for its tremendous labor saving ability.
Of course, I don’t sell them, so my opinion is suspect.

Not that you could test the fact with your Dev, but anyone who would clean half their living room with a metal lipped Chosen wand and then with a hole Glide on the other half will tell you what looks and appears cleaner.

I don't know how long it's been since you use a glideless wand and compared your dry times to a even a somewhat decent wand with a whole Glide that I'm going to say old age isn't working in your memories favor.

Think about it Marty, you probably have Glides conversations, listening to others experiences a few times a year..

While your observations are valid for your personal experience, I have umpteen thousands of experiences to base my fact on..

The non glided wand side looks better.
The nap is standing up straighter and it doesn’t have holes, hybrid or slot lines in it.

But, it’s wasted on the 20 year olds who can move it.

as far as cleaning base trim, you would be surprised at how soiled it can be. I use the old Prochem upholstery tool to clean right up to the base trim and along furniture that is not moved. Yes, that means I am on my hands and knees. You would not believe the comments I get that I am so thorough. You think theyre going to go with someone else next time? Dont think so.

Oh, by the way, I dont spend money on ads either. Dont have to. my customers do it for me

Put specific instructions not to suck up that overspray of water on any hard surface flooring with that hunk of metal as the glide. That metal glide has potential. I don't see how it could fit on several wands though. You certainly can't just "pop" it on like teflon
Yup. The Evo and Zipper are the only wands that metal will work on.
