Yep starting to likeVLM can't pull the hoses in anymore trying to to sell truckmount van and other equipment I was doing good for a while but have run out of steam not in the truck but ME hope to make it to January to 84 so I'll just do small jobs to help pay bill.No retirement but in stock market and NOT good there but there is light at the end of the tunnel. I just have to find the tunnel.

Not gonna start this debate all over again, but if you hwe, you know you didn't have to #flood most carpet to get it clean. Chems and agitation are doing the same thing you're doing following up with an additional step. Some don't do that

I did this job today. One chair, 2 Bedrooms, Hall, Living Room. I used 3 gallons for all of that. I rinsed the chair with water and that is not included. I haven't been HWE for 6 years now so I don't really remember how many gallons it would take to do that using the HWE Method but I do know it would take many more gallons than 3

How many more gallons 10 ??? 15 ??? I don't know but compared to VLM, HWE uses and WASTES many many more gallons of water

That carpet is a cheap Polyester. I used 2 oz VacAway Double Trouble and 4 oz Detonator (Peroxide) per gallon on chair and carpet

I'm starting to like that Sapphire Portable Upholstery tool. It uses too much water but adding a shut off solves that problem

I rarely use it anymore. It just doesn't clean polyester good enough for me

Yes I leave the MESSY Look and I like it

If I thought there was something wrong with the MESSY Look I wouldn't post pictures

I don't worry about perfect groom lines. When the customer starts walking on the carpet those lines will disappear fast. They're not deep lines

I use a 10'' CRB with soft brushes. That carpet is thick nylon and the lines are mostly just on the surface because the CRB is light and has soft brushes. A carpet brush/rake leaves deeper lines than a 10'' CRB with soft brushes. A 10'' CRB grooms the carpet better than a Brush or Rake. My opinion

I never get any negative comments from customers but do get criticism from other cleaners. If I start getting negative comments from customers that's when I will change my opinion on the MESSY Look

I'm more concerned with getting the carpet clean and dry than groom lines

It's a muffler that catches noise

Without the muffler it's loud and very annoying

With the muffler it's probably 50% quieter

When I'm prespraying and scrubbing furniture I have machine off

I only have the machine running when I'm extracting

If I thoroughly scrub and then rinse carpet, use a clean white pad after the rinse and said pad is mildly dirty, then what’s the difference if I only pad that particular carpet and keep cleaning with fresh pads until the white pads are only mildly dirty, just like if I had padded it after rinsing?

Is that carpet somehow cleaner if I rinse, even though the final pad used after rinsing looks exactly like the final pad I used if I had padded that carpet only?

Because it's not different than wiping your ass. You can keep wiping with that TP and it'll still smell like crap and and make the TP look mildly dirty. But if you get your ass in the shower or use. a bidet, you'll have a clean ass.

Most cleaners dont make enough passes to thoroughly rinse all the soils out especially in heavily soiled carpet. That goes for padders too.

Not using enough detergent is another issue from my experience.

So what happens to what's left behind



VLM uses agitation to clean with and usually dries in 1-2 hours. Dirt gets encapsulated in a detergent and crystallizes after drying and leaves no sticky residue



HWE uses WATER PRESSURE to clean with and uses at least 5 times more water than VLM. HWE usually takes 2-5 hours to dry (if customer is lucky that day) and uses a prespray and detergent

The longer it takes to dry the more dirty water left behind. VERY TRUE !!!

So what happens to all that prespray detergent and dirt left behind after it eventually dries

WATER PRESSURE pushes dirt down deeper to the bottom of the carpet making it much harder to remove, (thicker carpet much more of a problem) does the dirt detergent prespray left behind dry and remain at the bottom of the carpet, does the prespray detergent remaining at the bottom of the carpet cause resoiling, does the dirt after drying just sit at the bottom of the carpet forever, in the worst case does the dirt wick up and cause dull dingy looking carpet, or does it all just magically disappear

So what happens to all the dirt, prespray and detergent left behind by HWE

The longer it takes to dry the more dirty water left behind

Only padding doesnt raise the sand and grit from the backing. Vacuuming it once wont get it all out neither.
The water is the carrier that can rinse it away most efficiently.
Not just sand and dirt but spills and oils too. It just gets deeper Imo.
Do you use a washcloth on your hair. Your fingers are more like a wand you can scrub with and the water carries it away.

Water flushes the dirt away. You admit to leaving it behind.

So if I crb then extract am I not removing more soil than padding?
What if I pad after crb and extraction?
Really its just another tool.
Wicking happens even if its 30 minutes. Ive seen plenty of wicking from padders because they didnt flush the spill. But I've seen it from my own work too. Thats where experience matters I suppose.
Thats why I thoroughly soak spots with prespray to neutralize then flush. But I dont have to lug in a portable to do it. Same with furniture.
Since I got the WM and now butler I haven't padded a carpet. I just find it unnecessary now. But there are accounts I dont do anymore where access was an issue.
Ive padded a lot of carpet. Worked for CD for awhile and did a lot early on in my business. I still have everything to do it with. I just like what im doing now.
