A tragedy that should never have happened. A lack of training or failure to implement what they should have known. A little compassion for our fallen fellow man won't break the embodiment of our being.

Interesting outcome of this. One more thing for us to be aware of in dealing with our clients.

Mine asked me today if it was okay to be "inside" after cleaning because she heard of these 2 carpet cleaners dying. She thought it was fumes given off from the cleaning. I had to explain that it was the Carbon Monoxide from their engine that killed them, not the cleaning solutions.

The challenge with the media is that anything they don't understand they BS their explanation. That leaves us to do the damage control.

Sad deal.

More years ago than I want to remember two of my techs almost died due to the same situation. They both were flown to a hyperbaric chamber and unfortunately one of them suffered major memory problems and wound up on permanent disability. Sadly for me he was one of the best employees I had ever encountered.

The only good part of the story is the home owner and her two small children were out of the house at the time.

PS We immediately introduced procedures to avoid the same problem again, including leaving the doors to the home shut and putting an airmover at the front door where the hoses enter.
