I'm getting some new carpet in my personal home and wanted opinions on what to look for. I've always simply requested "solution dyed nylon" but is there anything else you would suggest? Brand, etc...? Thanks in advance.
Type 6.6 is considered higher end than 6 but a well constructed 6 is fine. Stick with a branded carpet like Shaw, mohawk or one of DuPont's brand names. Go with the highest face weight you can afford. 55 ounce in a well constructed carpet can last you a lifetime. Consider DuPont pet proof carpet if you have pets. Make sure the installer uses a power stretcher. Most don't. Choose a colour that will help to hide soil.I'm getting some new carpet in my personal home and wanted opinions on what to look for. White shows everything quickly. Off whites can be almost as bad. I prefer something in a brown shade, light tan perhaps. So no white?
Ps he’s a carpet cleaner so soil hiding might not be a problem.
Carpet cleaners don't like doing freebies, especially their own.So no white?

5 years, I think it's time to clean. You got that right. My wife has been on me for about 5 years to do ours.
