I often used it after a cleaning didn't result in perfection. "Like we talked about, you can still see a hint of the traffic area. The spots came out though, and overall the carpet looks great!" I could almost always get the customer to nod as well.

Never used it to sell. The only technique that works for me is quiet confidence.
