Dyeing fabric upholstery

Has anyone come up with a system whereby you can successfully re-colour fabric lounge suites, cotton in particular.

All that I have seen so far leave a lot to be desired in terms of splotchy dyes, etc;

Shorty, as you know I have tinkered with this subject a bit.
Unless the fabric is a flatweave, and one solid color, forget it.

There are fabric dyes and paints.
The paints cover well but the problem with the paints is that they are more likely to affect the hand of the fabric.
The dyes do not affect the hand of the fabric but cannot overcome blotchy spots caused by bleaching, sun-fading or an old Guiness spill..

At least that's been my experience so far with full re-dying to restore the original color.

Shorty,

I have had some success with this but only on Nylon furniture and only when solid colors. Of course, you do not find a lot except in a commercial environment. I agree with Tony on his comments.

I also agree with Tony and Steve. It is difficult to get a consistant color, especially on natural fabrics
