Has anyone replaced their own TM engine. I need a new one soon and was thinking about doing it myself.

I swapped a 25hp Kohler in 45 minutes.

The next one would go quicker.

Replaced one on my White Magic. The hardest part was getting the pulley off the shaft and getting the key out. The exhaust bolts can be a pita too. Just lube them the day before with penetrating oil. If you know how to turn a few wrenches you can do it. I ordered mine from smallenginewarehouse.com. Great prices.

I have a background in auto mechanics and have done some major repairs to my TM but never an engine - Thanks for the reply.

depends on your tool box and if you have the mechanical know how to disassemble, remove and replace a major component

Super easy. Pulled out the motor on my Amtex. Take pictures of the wires and linkages.

If you have a mechanical drive shop near you go buy a new pulley and keyway.
Install on new engine in same place the other pulley is on old engine.

Snap every pic you can of linkage and wires.
Source new exhaust manifold gaskets incase old ones break.

Dont forget to put the oil in new engine before running.
