I have built 4 trucks with 2 overhead doors each, I have never had a spring break.

My '07 box truck's spring is still in tact, I think. What do I need to look at to see if it's about to fail?

Make damn sure the cables align perfectly in the grooves on the spool when the door is open

There's allot of metal on metal contact with that. Do I need to lubricate that spring anywhere on it?

Been running my truck for 6-7 years. Never had a spring break or come loose.

Just take an old style oil can and run a bead of oil over the top of the spring. It will work it’s way around.

I added some new shelving in a convenient spot in the middle of the unit, see it in LasVegas
