Spot Shot

Hi,
I wanted to ask about the spot shot product and if professionals are using it as part of their arsenal. I had a customer who I cleaned for who had a dog that left many spots on her white carpet. I told her that I did not think they would come out and after pre treating and app[lying some spotter, they did not come out with the cleaning. She is a neighbor so when I saw her again she said that she used spot shot and placed a rag on top of the stains stepped on them and they came out. I did not see her work for myself. I have heard of this product before but have always stayed away from the store bought products. If anyone has information on this product and whether or not they use it, it would be appreciated. Thank you.

Have you ever tried Urine Stain Remover from Pros Choice?
It works great on pet stains among other things. It is an oxidizer. We call it the miracle spray.

The next time you clean her carpet there will color loss wherever she used the product. Warn her in advance of cleaning.

Good point, Steve. In fact, asking if they've used anything is a good idea, along with letting them know that sometimes, light places or discoloration might occur because some "remedies" can disrupt the carpet color.

Spot Shot is a VDS (Volatile Dry Solvent).
Works well on grease (mechanical particularly, some glues etc.). It will also remove other stains if the carpet stain resistance is still working. In other words, what other regular spotters will do as well.

As with all solvents, if applied excessively it may De-lamintae carpet (dissolve the glue layer) creating a bubble. With some fabrics it tends to lighten the area. Will do nothing to address urine in the carpet or in pad.
Dries fast, though.

I've seen spot shot turn the area hilighter yellow. Not always of course but enough to guess the product from the color. Maybe from being to close and letting it run to long. Don't know the reason but I see it enough to tell people not to use it.

Two weeks ago I had a place loaded with spot cleaning attempts by the home owner. They tried cleaning up after their cat... (before the cat finally kicked the bucket on thanksgiving...)

I feel bad but the whole place is now a reverse dalmatian pattern.


Hard to see on the before pictures because of dirt covering the stains... But I forgot to do the after pictures. It was: bright spots everywhere!

When I returned the Oriental rug I picked up for washing, they did go through the questioning process "why is it all bleached" "how come it's so much brighter" "what can you do about it" etcetera.

Good thing, I extensively explained before the cleaning - what might happen. This way I just had to remind them: remember when I was explaining about all the spot cleaning attempts? Remember how I said they might get brighter because of the damage done to the dyes with your spot cleaners?
