I don't think it is significant.
The heat from the Butler is vacuumed into the Devastator wand so quickly that I like the gray cuff to keep me from touching the top of the hot wand.
The flash cuff makes it easy to switch to the inch and a half when doing upholstery or stairs. Also a place for the hose to rotate/swivel so it doesn't get twisted up.

normally I get them from Joe...I forget where I got that one it's an old picture.....but I don't have it anymore...I use these.....
