I agree with Hogjowl, it is hard to tell what that is in pic #1.
I would go with #2 only darken the vacuum cleaner a little bit to make it jump out more.

Look ^^ he did that. I think the vacuum may be a bit too big, but it's now dark enough and you can sort of tell it's a vacuum now. I would have kept it the same size as #2 on the first page, but just darkened it up ... as you suggest.
