Seriously we are just way to busy to go chasing. Its been awful I bet we turned down 50k or more this week. Passed on 2 more today. We are having trouble monitoring the ones we did take and still work the big job we have going.

Combined this round and the one last month I bet we passed on 100k. Man are we going to regret that come winter.

Very smart move, several years ago we got a call from a well known industry guru offering us the chance of a lifetime to storm chase. He proceeded to tell me we would split the profits on any work that was done and he would GUARANTEE I got paid. I told him I would pass, I did not need the practice.

The problem is that it sounds much more glamorous than it is.

What is needed is gutting of all affected materials. Carpet, pad, drywall, then wash down, then dry (if power is restored).

Meanwhile where do you stay? Do they have power, water, food, fuel?

Payment? Who can you trust? I'd be Leary of being a sub unless you know the company. I've heard many a first hand story of how the insurance company or property manager shorted the invoice. Shit rolls downhill and you didn't get what you thought you were.

Just go in aware if you go.

True. I worked the Mississippi River flood back in 1993. I still remember the smell of dead fish as long as my leg lying in the middle of the street rotting, and the sight of coffins popping up out of the ground and floating in the river. I felt sorry for those National Guard troops that were charged with retrieving the bodies. They didn't sign up for that.
A disaster area is something to see, and something you never forget.

Remember most all of the damage will be rising water so no coverage outside of fed flood insurance.

They suck, we don't work for them. Too many "We don't pay" line items. I suppose they have their reasons but in the end the restorer is the one taking the hit.

We're leaving Saturday morning for Texas. Headed towards Houston, but will be going through Louisiana on I-10 west, so we'll stop wherever we're needed.
I'll let you guys know how it's going at some point. Just hoping we can get a motel room somewhere within a couple of hours of the Houston area.
