That's not true. How could they exclude a work related injury because you're self employed? The only way health insurance wouldn't come into coverage is if you have workers comp.

It may come down to proving it happened on the job. If you slipped and fell and were carried out in an ambulance, no problem. If you hurt your back lifting furniture but nobody is there to witness it, it may be hard to prove.
