Time to put on the Snow and Ice tires, cant push my luck any longer.

Rear wheel drive on the Transit is less than worthless wht out them.

Who else has to to do the swap?

I wish we could use chains and studded tires here in MN, but nope...we've had some snow and ice already, nothing too thick. Transit handles pretty nice in it. Not quite as nice as my extended Savana with offroad tires, that thing was better than some 4x4s I've had.

I need to get my fj next door to get the big meaty snow tires on. It would do fine with what I have on it now but I already own the other bad boys. Next month, I can wait until December.

Yeah, I had to wear a long sleeve jersey on my bike ride this morning. It wasn't even 70 degrees when I started out.

I’ve had mine on for almost a month. We had some early snow a week ago. Between the freeze thaw, my studded winters were almost useless. It forced me to go buy chains... I went with the same ones the cops use.... ALMOST unstoppable now..... I’ve taken to laying out long tarps to the front door. It snows, a day later, it rains,
then freezes, and thaws again. It’s a mess up here right now.

I need new tires but may wait till next year. I don't work when the streets are bad.

Personal vehicles all have AT or mud tires all year. It just looks better.

different circumstances here... no hi-mountain passes to cross
Only tire chains here are on garden tractors

Ohio isn't a third world state.
we have money for these things called "snow plows"
They have a great big blade on the front that pushes snow off the roads , and a big box on the back that hold and dispenses tons of salt
and they roll 24/7 in snowy weather

those of us used to driving in snow every winter, get a chuckle out of the cueballs that can't get in and out of a driveway with 6" of snow on it

and we down right snicker, giggle and laugh at those in climes that rarely ever see snow.
2-3" of snow is an apocalyptic crisis that shuts down whole cities due to eedii-otts than can't drive

a top quality all season radial is all I've needed to get around on the roads
even in the 2 wheel drive pick-ups I've owned/own ..and they're worse than an empty cargo van

and if a blizzard or a major lake effect snow dump, I'm staying home anyway

staying home at least til I get the snow blower out
Which is what I did in the above pic ...then went to a gun show that Saturday morning :winky:
fo-reel

Picked up some rugs from a house high on a hill yesterday with a steep corkscrewy drive way. I mentioned that it must be tough getting up and down in the winter and she says, "yeah, I flipped my truck last winter". Not only did she run off the drive way but rolled about 100 feet down the hill. Not on the wheels. luckily, a tree stopped her from crossing the road and ending up in the water.

Those are exactly the driveways I deal with almost every day. Now if a guy can imagine it covered in ice and snow for 4 months, maybe some of these guys understand why I have studded tires(Nokian Hakkapalitta LT2), and carry chains..... a guy ain’t running hoses from the bottom of the driveway. Some are 3-500 feet long....
